Royal recognition for Wootton Bassett
Charles and Camilla visit repatriation spot
The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall visited Wootton Bassett to show their appreciation to the hundreds of local residents who line the high street to pay their respects to the fallen soldiers during repatriations.
The royal couple laid wreaths during a service at the town's war memorial and dedicated a flag pole in the town's honour.
The wreaths read:
"With deepest gratitude, Camilla", and "In grateful and everlasting memory, Charles."
Following the service, the couple popped in to the Cross Keys pub, where families of the fallen gather after repatriations.
Despite the snow and freezing conditions, they then walked up the high street, greeting residents on their way before ending their visit with a private function hosted by the British Legion, where Prince Charles made a speech. |
